To be the utility supplier of choice by meeting and exceeding the expectations of the customer in an increasingly competitive environment, with the emphasis on electric service and other compatible products and services.

Company Profile

Southern Rivers Energy is a member-owned electric cooperative originally chartered as Lamar Electric Membership Corporation in 1938.

We are located in central Georgia and provide electric service to more than 18,500 metered accounts in nine counties including Bibb, Coweta, Crawford, Lamar, Meriwether, Monroe, Pike, Spalding, and Upson.

We employ 52 people and are governed by an elected Board of Directors who represent our members in the business of the cooperative. Our headquarters is located in Barnesville, GA. which is known for the buggies that were produced here in years past.

Many popular festivals are held within Southern Rivers Energy's service area such as the Buggy Days and BBQ & Blues Festivals in Barnesville, the Culloden Highland Games & Scottish Festival in Culloden, the Forsythia Festival in Forsyth, the Georgia Jug Fest in Knoxville, the Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon, the Cotton Pickin' Fair in Gay, and the Chitlin Hoedown in Yatesville just to name a few.
