My Community
As an electric membership cooperative, Southern Rivers Energy is committed to the communities it serves and has many valuable programs dedicated to improving the quality of life for those communities.
Our Operation Round Up program is designed to provide financial assistance, mainly to charitable organizations in our communities and is funded by our members. We have several educational and leadership opportunities for local students and one is even dedicated to our teachers. Our Bright Ideas teacher grant program funds creative lesson plans for students that are often just not in the budget.
Two local high school students are chosen to represent SRE on the Washington Youth Tour for a week each year and high school seniors and college students residing in SRE's service territory can apply for tuition assistance through two different scholarship programs.
In addition to the programs offered by the cooperative, SRE stays active in the communities through local chambers of commerce, rotary clubs and other other civic groups. Many of our employees volunteer their time at local churches, coaching athletic teams and serving as scout leaders. We're not just an electric co-op, we're a part of your community!
