Calling All Teachers! Apply Now for the 2017 Round of Bright Ideas Grants!

Teachers, receive up to $1000 for your creative lesson plans!  


Starting May 1st, SRE is accepting online applications for the 2017 round of Bright Ideas grants at! A total of $15,000 will be awarded by the Bright Ideas Brigade during the week of October 16, 2017.

Purpose: To fund innovative classroom projects developed by teachers that would normally fall through the cracks due to lack of funding.  Not to be used for classroom supplies unless part of a well planned creative project that teaches part of the curriculum. Funding for iPads or Smart Boards is no longer permitted and applications must be for a new idea/lesson plan. Applications for project ideas that have already been funded will not be considered although teachers may submit a new project idea that builds on one that has previously been funded.


State-certified public or private school teachers in grades Pre-K-12 in Bibb, Coweta, Crawford, Lamar, Meriwether, Monroe, Pike, Spalding and Upson counties.


Applications must be submitted online and received before 12:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2017.  Early Bird deadline and entry in $250 OfficeMax gift card drawing is Aug. 18. Applications received after 9/1/17 deadline will not be considered.  Visit for details or email Kathryn Claxton at
