SRE Contractors Throughout Service Area
Multiple projects are currently underway across Southern Rivers Energy's service area and we are contracting with several different companies to assist us. As you are probably already aware, we are contracting with Conexon Connect to design and build our fiber network and we are already in the process of make-ready engineering and construction in Lamar and Monroe counties. One of the companies helping with make-ready engineering is Osmose and they are responsible for measuring power poles, attachments, and clearances to prepare for fiber construction.
Their contractors drive down every road on our system to collect the necessary data but each vehicle is clearly marked with the Osmose logo and a "Contractor for Southern Rivers Energy" magnet. You may see the vehicles parked on the side of the road with safety cones out and workers wearing safety vests walking in areas where they cannot drive their vehicles. Not all of the Osmose vehicles are the same but they will all be clearly marked.
In addition to the fiber project, we are also in the middle of a pole attachment audit of our system and the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) inspection that will take place over the next several months. This is required every five years to count the number of attachments on our utility poles and inspect each attachment to verify that it meets the NESC requirements. The company performing this audit for us is TRC and their contractor drives a white, truck with the TRC logo and a Southern Rivers Energy contractor magnet on the side. If you see the truck in your area, the driver will likely be driving slowly, making a lot of stops, and may need to enter the property to get a clear view of the poles.
