SRE Sends Crew North to Help Restore Power: Updated
Update 2/20/2015: Our line crew was released from Habersham EMC early this morning after assisting with their restoration efforts all week and then headed over to Amicalola EMC in Jasper, GA to help them restore power for nearly 500 of their members who remain in the dark. Amicalola EMC serves nearly 40,000 members across ten counties in extreme North Georgia across mountainous terrain. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the linemen, EMC personnel and their families as they work hard to restore power and heat for their entire membership.
A five-man crew left this morning to help restore power to more than 7000 members at Habersham EMC in Clarkesville, GA after last night's ice storm. We were in their shoes this time last year when approximately 9000 of our members lost power at the peak of our outage during Winter Storm Pax. Thanks to one of the guiding cooperative principles, Cooperation among Cooperatives, we received additional crews from seven other electric membership cooperatives to help us completely restore power in less than three days. Since we dodged last night's storm, we were ready to return the favor today.
We are proud of our linemen and we are thankful for their families and their support which allows our men to focus on the dangerous work they do to ensure all the modern day comforts we take for granted. Our thoughts are with all the utilities working hard to restore power for their consumers in these harsh conditions.
